Seattle's Fred Couples has been a local favorite throughout his professional career. That adoration was well observed when he played the 2010 U.S. Senior Open at Sahalee.
A fawning gallery followed him every step of the way hoping for a win. For 53 of 54 holes, he kept the dream alive. But early on Sunday, a triple bogey ended any chance of wrestling the trophy from Bernard Langer, the eventual winner.
According to the News Tribune's John McGrath, Couples remembers
his Sahalee experience as "the most fun I've ever had in golf," which
is no exaggeration.
