Course Etiquette

Rules of Play—The USGA Rules of Golf are enforced at all times.

Pace of Play—The first group of the day sets the pace of play for the rest of the field. Our goal at Sahalee is to play 18 holes of golf in a maximum time of 4 hours and 10 minutes (or 2 hours and 5 minutes per 9 holes). Thereafter, each group must keep up with the group ahead and not worry about the group behind. If you run into trouble (i.e. a lost ball), please let the group behind you play through.

Remember that when you fall out of position, it is your responsibility to catch up as soon as possible:

  • Suspend honors. Play ready golf.
  • Utilize the continuous putting rule where practical.
  • Continue on to the next tee quickly.

Golf Cars, Pull Carts & Electric Pull Carts—Sahalee's standards regarding all types of golf cars and carts are as follows:

  • Cars and carts shall be kept off all tees and greens.
  • No cars and carts are allowed within 10 yards of any green.
  • No cars and carts are allowed between the bunkers/hazards and greens.
  • Paths provided for golf cars must be used at all times unless the "90 Degree Rule" is in effect. The "90 Degree Rule," when in effect, allows for golf cars to be driven off the path directly across (90-degrees) from your golf ball, driven directly to your ball and then directly back to the path. On all Par 3 holes, golf cars must remain on the path.

General Course Care—To ensure our greens and fairways remain in optimal condition for all golfers, please:

  • Repair all ball marks on the green (yours plus one more).
  • Replace all divots! (Use sand and seed mix if a divot is not recoverable.)
  • Always rake bunkers and leave rakes in the bottom of bunkers with handle facing tee.

Shoes—The use of "soft spikes" or spikeless shoes is mandatory on all golf areas from May through October.

Cell Phones & Wireless Devices Policy

The use of cellular telephones, pagers, text messaging and other wireless devices is strictly prohibited within a 100 yard radius of the Clubhouse, practice greens and the practice range (except in the case of a medical emergency). Cell phones or other devices may be used in the Clubhouse telephone rooms and the Sahalee parking lot. All wireless devices should be placed on "vibrate" or "silent" mode while on Club premises so that other members and their guests are not disturbed.

Sahalee Dress Code

All members and guests must be appropriately dressed at all times. It is the member’s responsibility to see that their guests are informed of the Club’s policies regarding the dress code. No person, including surprise guests, will be permitted in the Clubhouse or any golf area if not appropriately dressed.

Golf attire is acceptable in all areas. The following types of dress are not appropriate for golf areas or the Clubhouse at Sahalee:

  • Denim jeans, pants or shorts of any color.
  • Shorts with an inseam of less than mid-thigh or cut-off shorts.
  • Tank tops, halter-tops, spaghetti strap tops or clothing allowing bare mid-riffs.
  • Caps with a bill worn any way but bill forward.
  • Athletic clothing unless designed as golf attire, except in the workout facility and the locker rooms.
  • Hats for men must be removed during service in the Acton Room

By taking note and following the above rules and guidelines for play at Sahalee, the game of golf will be more enjoyable for everyone. Thank you.
